Export Indian food products to the UAE, registered and shelf-ready

The UAE imports most of its food and has one of the largest Indian communities in the world, so Indian snacks, spices, ready meals and beverages already have loyal buyers there. Getting onto shelves in Dubai or Abu Dhabi, though, means meeting product registration, labelling and certification rules first. As a food regulatory consultant for the UAE, we prepare your products and documents so they clear and sell.

Indian food categories in demand in the UAE

  • Snacks & namkeenTraditional and better-for-you
  • Spices & masalasWhole, ground and blends
  • Ready-to-eat & ready-to-cookCurries, gravies, premixes
  • BeveragesJuices, functional and traditional drinks
  • Health & millet foodsProtein, millet, clean-label
  • Sweets & bakeryMithai, biscuits, rusks

  • Pickles & condimentsAchaar, chutneys, sauces

What usually stops Indian products at the UAE border

Most delays come from documents and labels, not the product itself: a missing Arabic label, a shelf-life format that does not match UAE rules, an ingredient that needs extra approval, or a halal certificate from a body the UAE does not recognise.

We review your product, label and paperwork against local requirements before the first shipment, so your importer can register and clear it without back-and-forth.

Requirements differ by emirate and product category, and they change. We confirm current rules with your UAE importer and the relevant authority before dispatch.

Why UAE businesses look to India for food

Cost and scale: abundant raw materials, from grains and pulses to fruit, spices and dairy, at competitive prices.

Trade access: the India–UAE CEPA has cut tariffs on many goods made in India, which helps products sourced here for UAE shelves.

Investment support: central schemes and state incentives can reduce the cost of a new food processing unit. Our funding and subsidy team maps what applies.

FAQ

Food consultant in UAE: common questions

Do you work with clients in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and the rest of the UAE?
Yes. We work with importers, distributors, retailers, food manufacturers and investors across the UAE, including Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. Most work happens online, and our team in India handles audits, trials and commissioning on the ground.
How do I register an Indian food product in the UAE?
Imported food is registered before it is sold, through the UAE's national ZAD system and the relevant emirate authority, such as Dubai Municipality or ADAFSA in Abu Dhabi. Registration is usually filed by your UAE importer. We prepare the product information, compliant labels and supporting documents so the registration goes through smoothly. See our food regulatory services.
Do food labels need to be in Arabic for the UAE?
Yes. Food sold there needs Arabic labelling with the mandatory information, usually alongside English. In some cases a supplementary Arabic label is accepted, but it must not hide or contradict the original label. We review your label artwork before printing.
Is halal certification required to export food to the UAE?
It depends on the product. Meat, poultry and products with certain animal-derived ingredients need halal certification, and any halal claim must be backed by a certificate from a body recognised in the UAE. We check whether your category needs it and which certifiers are accepted.
Can UAE companies own a food processing business in India?
India allows 100% foreign direct investment in food processing. We help UAE investors with feasibility, site selection, subsidies and plant setup. For company formation and investment structuring, we work alongside your legal and tax advisers. See our food factory setup service.
Can you find an Indian manufacturer for our private-label products?
Yes. We shortlist and audit Indian food manufacturers that match your product, volumes and quality standards, develop the product to your specification and make sure it meets Emirati requirements before the first order. Learn about our contract manufacturing support.
Do you help set up food factories in the UAE?
Yes, on the technical side. We handle feasibility, process design, plant layout, machinery selection, food safety systems and commissioning, and we work with your UAE licensing partner on local approvals.
How do we start working together from the UAE?
Message us on WhatsApp or email your product details or project brief. We set up an online consultation, usually within your working day, then send a written proposal with scope, timeline and fees.
